Other Patient Financial Assistance

Patients at White Mountain Community Health Center have access to a number of private funds and programs that can close the gap when cost is a barrier to getting the care they need. Talk to your provider if you are putting off important health care due to cost, and she can connect you with a fund or program that can help.

If you are interested in donating to one of our in-house funds, please see our donations page.

Programs

Medication Bridge is a New Hampshire program open to all U.S. residents that provides needed medications to eligible uninsured and underinsured patients at a very reduced cost. This program works by connecting patients with the Patient Assistance Program of major pharmaceuticals, under the leadership of the Foundation for Healthy Communities. Our patients can receive assistance applying for Medication Bridge and pick up medications at the health center. If you are having difficulty paying for long-term medications, talk to your provider about applying for Medication Bridge, and he/she will connect you with Jenn Mashiak, who manages this program at the health center.

The Breast and Cervical Cancer Program (BCCP) is a New Hampshire program through which patients may obtain a free screening examination, which includes a breast exam, pelvic exam, Pap smear and a mammogram. If the screening finds a health issue that requires further medical evaluation, the program will pay for related off-site examinations and testing. If you are interested in this program, ask your provider how you can apply.

Medical Coverage for Pregnant Women is available through the Medicaid program in both New Hampshire and Maine. Eligibility for pregnant women is wider than for adult Medicaid, and this program covers the major costs of pregnancy and birth. If you are pregnant and concerned about upcoming medical bills, Sarah Wright can help you apply for this program.

Private Funds

Pharmacy Fund assists our patients with their immediate pharmaceutical needs (such as antibiotics, which Medication Bridge does not cover) or with their medications during the six week processing period for Medication Bridge.

Transportation Fund assists our patients with their transportation needs for medical care. Given the distances involved in our area and the limited public transportation, we saw a need to provide a method of helping patients get to their appointments at the health center, or to places as far away as Portland and Hanover.

Phil Kelly Food Pantry Fund supports the health center's food pantry. Phil Kelly was a much-beloved Eaton resident and restaurant-owner known for his compassion and generosity. He fed many people without charge when they couldn't afford food. The health center has named its food pantry fund in his honor. The food pantry serves approximately 100 people a month, and is open to both patients and non-patients.

My Mother's Fund was created by former board member Janice Crawford in honor of her mother. This fund assists women who do not qualify for any other program in obtaining mammograms and ultrasounds for screening or diagnostic purposes. White Mountain Community Health Center is the administrator for this fund, which is maintained by private donations.

Miranda Leavitt Diabetes Fund was established in 2008 by former board member Brenda Leavitt and her husband Richard Leavitt of Fryeburg, Maine, in honor of their daughter, who passed away at the age of 22 from diabetic complications. This fund, which is housed at Memorial Hospital, is designed to help diabetic patients with needed supplies, support, healthcare, and education.

Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome Fund helps pay for diagnosis and treatment of polycystic ovarian syndrome. The force behind the fund is Jean Potter Murphy, and initial funding came from the Bob and Jean Murphy Family Fund, managed by the New Hampshire Charitable Foundation.
